The Terminal Condition
Considering “The Terminal List” as a theme for what we observe and our reaction to why we see.
Sometimes when you watch a production or read a book you can see the author’s efforts to closely parallel current events and environments. This makes the material more plausible and therefor more viable as an engaging storyline.
The book series and production titled “The Terminal List” fits within that characterization and the protagonist in the story is identifiable for his deep loss and anguish for treacherous and terrible things that were done by those whom he trusted and served. There is often a retribution and justice served component of such narratives that draws us in.
We are innately connecting to justice being served for observed wrongs that were intentional and evil. We may seek a respite from the evil rising all around us in either a book or movie. With the evil rising, we can more easily consider a righteous judgement from God. A judgement that will be served upon those who have put themselves at eminently with the holy and sovereign and eternal — the alpha and the omega — the beginning and the end. A forthcoming judgement by the eternal God who created time itself and all things seen and unseen throughout all His creation.
Yet we must remember that God’s mercy and grace is extended to all that would believe in His Son Jesus, in his work on the cross of Calvary, and in the redemption of our sin through our repentance and complete faith in this work for our salvation. None of our good works are magnified by Jesus’ blood, but rather it is the exclusive blood of Jesus paid for our salvation.
May God have mercy and allow more to come into a saving relationship with His Son. May those who hear God’s call be given eternal life in the very presence of God.
May the broken-hearted and poor in spirit and otherwise afflicted boldly call upon the name of Jesus. May these, by God’s mercy and love receive the Holy Spirit upon their heart and mind and know His truth and grace by His will.
Amen!
